OverviewOur client, a well respected community ‘hub’ based in Helston, Cornwall are looking to recruit a permanent part-time Treasurer (Accounts person) for approx 2 hrs a week. The job would help out at the not for profit Social Club in a major way and the current Treasurer is leaving (after giving exemplary service for a number of years) to concentrate on their own business affairs. The role would suit a retired Accounts person with knowledge of bank recs, vat nd basic payroll. This position involves overseeing budgeting, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring transparency in all monetary transactions. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, a good understanding of financial management, and experience with various accounting software programmes. This voluntary role offers an excellent opportunity to develop financial expertise while contributing to the community.ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the clubPrepare and present regular financial reports to club members and committee membersManage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collectionsOversee budgeting processes and monitor expenditure to ensure compliance with financial policiesReconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are correctly recordedAssist in organising fundraising activities and managing associated financesEnsure compliance with relevant financial regulations and club policiesCollaborate with other committee members to plan future events and initiatives within budget constraintsRequirementsProven experience in financial management or accounting.Strong organisational skills with attention to detailAbility to handle accounts payable and maintain accurate recordsKnowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and financial reporting practicesPrior experience in managing budgets or working within a community organisation is desirable but not essentialAbility to commit time voluntarily for meetings and financial duties as requiredThis role offers an enriching opportunity for individuals interested in community engagement and financial stewardship.
