IMMEDIATE POSITION OPENINGDeputy County TreasurerLuce County Treasurer’s OfficeThe Luce County Treasurer’s Office is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented individual to fill an immediate opening for Deputy County Treasurer.Essential Skills & QualificationsStrong Microsoft Excel skillsExperience with or ability to learn account reconciliationsExcellent customer service and communication skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently and prioritize multiple tasksAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial informationProfessional and courteous interaction with taxpayers, municipalities, and the publicAbility to learn and follow Michigan laws, regulations, and County proceduresPrevious accounting, bookkeeping, governmental, or treasury experience is preferredPosition ResponsibilitiesThe Deputy Treasurer assists with the daily operations of the County Treasurer’s Office, including financial recordkeeping, account reconciliations, tax collection and processing, customer service, reporting, and other duties as assigned by the County Treasurer.APPLICATION DEADLINEApplications must be submitted by September 18, 2026.This is an immediate opening.Interested applicants should submit a resume and completed application to the Luce County Treasurer’s Office.Luce County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.ResponsibilitiesManage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections using accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Sage, Xero, or similar softwarePerform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to maintain accurate financial recordsPrepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports in accordance with GAAP standardsOversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and accurate deductions through payroll softwareMaintain detailed records of all financial transactions, including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliationAssist in budget preparation, monitoring expenditures against approved budgets using spreadsheets and financial softwareConduct balance sheet reconciliation and ensure accuracy of the county’s financial statements according to public accounting standardsSupport the Treasurer in implementing internal controls for safeguarding assets and ensuring compliance with accounting policiesExperienceProven experience in accounting or bookkeeping within a public sector or non-profit organization is highly preferredExtensive knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Sage, Xero, or similar systemsStrong understanding of GAAP principles, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation processesDemonstrated ability to handle payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger managementExperience with financial report writing and preparing detailed financial statements for review by management or auditorsFamiliarity with budgeting processes and financial concepts relevant to government or non-profit entitiesExcellent skills in spreadsheets (Excel) including 10-key typing for data entry accuracy and efficiencyJoin us to play a key role in maintaining transparent and accurate financial operations that support our community’s growth.
