Time Commitment: 6 hours/monthWorks with: Executive Director, Board Chair, Fundraising Committee MembersJob SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Board Treasurer to join our organization’s leadership team. The Treasurer will oversee the financial health of the organization, ensuring accurate financial management, compliance with regulatory standards, and transparent reporting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence strategic decision-making while maintaining the integrity of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in nonprofit and governmental accounting, financial analysis, and treasury management, combined with excellent leadership skills to manage our finance team effectively. As a vital member of the board, you will champion fiscal responsibility and help guide the organization toward sustainable growth.Elected OfficialsThis position is being posted with the intention of becoming a fully elected Board Member, thus candidate must be a resident of Kalamazoo County . Our next election period is scheduled for February/March 2027.ResponsibilitiesOversee all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.Lead the preparation of financial statements, regulatory reports, and audit materials in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and other relevant standards.Attend monthly meetings (third Fridays @ 8AM)Generate financial reports one week ahead of monthly meetingsPresent key findings in financial reports at monthly meetingsManage financial compliance needs alongside the Chair and other leadership team membersMaintain contact with Executive Director and Bookkeeper to ensure proper coordinationProvide strategic guidance on budgeting processes, financial planning, and forecasting to support organizational growth initiatives.SkillsExtensive knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles as well as governmental accounting standards.Proficiency in financial software systems and advanced Excel data analysis techniques.Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, budget development, forecasting models, and financial management strategies.Experience in treasury management including cash flow optimization and banking relationships.Bookkeeping (Quickbooks)Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, generating graphs/chartsCreating & giving presentationsFamiliarity with donor management softwareJoin us as our Board Treasurer to make a meaningful impact through strategic fiscal oversight!
