The finance team is at the heart of the council, they are currently going through a period of transformation and this role will be leading and integrating the delivery of a range of financial services to add value, drive change and facilitate the ambitions of Southend-on-Sea.
As the Finance Manager you will support the Senior Finance Lead in delivering the corporate vision, values and priorities of the Council and management of strategic and operational projects which maintain and enhance service delivery or improve efficiency.
The key areas of responsibility in this role are the financial, technical and reporting aspects of the capital investment programme, fixed assets, treasury management and leasing, including budget setting, the in year budget monitoring and year end closing of accounts and the preparation of the annual Statement of Accounts.
You will also manage a team of staff who will be involved in the day-to-day transactional processes of the capital, fixed assets and treasury functions.
What you’ll need to succeed
You must be a qualified accountant (CCAB) Accountant, with Local Authority finance experience in these areas of focus, and you must be professional and confident in discussions with all members of the Council and external parties.
