Whats the role about?
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Treasury team as Head of Treasury on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, in the role you will report to and deputise for the Director of Financial Strategy. You will develop and lead an outstanding team of treasury professionals who are consistently achieving best-in-sector outcomes for the Partnership, acting as a differentiator as you build and protect the Partnerships financial platform which is critical to the ongoing sustainability of the Partnership.
You will ensure the Partnerships financial success by managing its liquidity, funding, financial market risks, pension risks, and Debt Ratio. You will manage senior relationships with funding providers, including relationship banks and bondholders.
Last year the Treasury team was at the forefront of the Partnerships financial response to Covid-19 – adding almost half a billion pounds of new liquidity – as well as providing expert treasury and funding advice in relation to our strategic review. The Partnership Plan, a new 5 year strategic plan, was announced in October 2020 and sets out an exciting new chapter in the Partnership’s 100 year history. The Treasury team will be central to building upon a strong and flexible financial platform, whether thats managing record levels of liquidity (~2 billion) or getting involved in refinancing our bank facilities.
Please note, the team is currently working from home. This role can be based in either Victoria or Bracknell, however candidates must be able to travel to the other location when required. What will you be doing?
Set clear intent, direction and guardrails within the Finance strategy to achieve outcomes aligned to the Partnership strategy. You will particularly focus on strategies around liquidity, foreign exchange (FX) hedging, funding and pension risk management.
Put strategic plans in place to manage the Partnerships financial assets and financial liabilities, working with senior stakeholders across the business to do so.
Define, manage and oversee the funding strategy for the Partnership, ensuring business strategy needs are met through sufficient cash-flow and working capital to accommodate investments.
Manage the Partnerships liquidity to ensure that business liabilities, such as tax, pensions, and payments relating to debt, can be met. Develop and utilise appropriate systems and processes to realise this.
Build and manage key relationships with a range of financial and capital sources, for example banks, bondholders and credit insurers, to optimally fund the business and manage funding & liquidity risk.
You will be part of the extended finance leadership team – helping to determine finance priorities, overseeing talent planning, and helping to identify and manage key risks for the finance function.
What you’ll have:
A qualified Treasurer (AMCT / MCT) with relevant and significantly broad Treasury experience in a large corporate environment
Experience of leading and developing a professional Treasury team
Deep knowledge of financial markets, laws & regulations
Design & implementation of financial risk management strategies
Experience of building and managing relationships with funding providers, such as banks and bondholders
Experience setting and implementing Treasury Policy
Experience negotiating and executing external funding
Understanding of DB pension scheme risk management strategies and knowledge of pension triennial valuation process
Experience of presenting / influencing at Board & Executive Team level
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate complex topics effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels
Strong attention to detail with a critical mindset
