• This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level lawyer to join the Treasury, ESG & Disclosure Legal team and support our growing Treasury Markets business
• You’ll gain significant exposure across all our franchises as you deliver our legal strategy and ensure the timely and effective delivery of all issues, projects and initiatives
• This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain full, hands-on experience in a broad range of matters and to become a trusted adviser to the Treasury business and other related stakeholders
• Youll have the opportunity to work from home, but youll also spend time working from our London office
• Flexible working options are offered as part of this role, and we would also consider the role on a part time basis, 28 hours per week.

What you’ll do

Reporting directly to the Managing Legal Counsel for Treasury Markets, youll be managing and coordinating the delivery of legal advice and support across Treasury Markets. You’ll make sure that your advice is accurate, readily understandable to non-lawyers, delivered at the right time, and remains commercial while minimising legal risks.

You’ll be supporting the Liquidity Management, xVA, Derivatives and Short Term Markets desks with both day-to-day matters and the setting up of new projects and initiatives and covering areas such as derivatives (interest rate, FX inflatin,credit), repo, DLT money markets, commercial paper programme and central clearing.

Day to day, youll be:

• Managing advisers and stakeholders in successfully delivering the banks projects
• Striving for continuous improvement in the operating practices and processes, including identifying efficiencies, improvements and opportunities to reduce costs
• Managing legal costs through the use of e-billing, auctions and other tools, and driving a culture of disciplined cost management and controls

The skills you’ll need

To join us in this role, youll need to be a mid-level qualified lawyer with experience of providing legal and commercial advice. Youll be able to draw on your experience of working with law firms and other professional advisers and have knowledge of current legal issues facing banks.

Experience of working within an in-house legal team at a financial institution is an advantage, and knowledge of the UK ring-fencing rules is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. While senior legal support will be available, we’ll need you to be able to work proactively and autonomously.

Well also be looking for you to demonstrate:

• A solid understanding of ISDA and GMRA documentation
• In-depth knowledge of general banking law and practice and the financial services industry
• The ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships, especially with senior colleagues
• Good commercial awareness and analytical skills
• The ability to manage a range of tasks simultaneously

Given the skills and experience outlined above, this role is likely to be suitable for someone in the region of three to five years’ PQE. However this is for guidance only, and any candidates with the appropriate skills will be considered.
