The Role Responsibilities
Effectively monitor the market risk for local and global Treasury businesses, including daily review of risk reports to ensure that the reported risk is timely and accurate.
Review the daily risk exposures in light of prevailing market conditions, and proactively identify and report material market risk drivers in the business.
Ensure continued alignment of risk limits and risk management activities within Treasury businesses with the Traded Risk type framework, policies, control standards, and other control levers.
Provide subject matter expertise to the relevant businesses and functions on market risk for Treasury.
Build a good understanding of Traded Market Risk Stress Testing model and provide a continuous assessment and review of stress test scenarios, stress results, and drivers. Assist with the design and implementation of new stress tests scenarios.
Provide accurate management information as requested on a timely basis, and measure and contribute to weekly and monthly risk summaries for senior management and management committees.
Support the Head of Traded Risk Management, Treasury Risk West with their role and responsibilities relating to market risk.
Challenge the effectiveness of risk control activities and help to address any significant gaps or weaknesses that may exist.
Provide balanced and informed assessment of market risk arising from any major change initiatives, including UAT testing of new systems and reports.
Assist with key projects for Global Treasury markets and ensure that any issues are highlighted and resolved in a timely manner.
Ensure effective management of operational risks within the Function and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations
Develop and maintain risk identification and measurement capabilities which are objective, consistent, appropriate to the business and compliant with applicable regulations;
Obtain reliable assurance that policies and other control requirements are effectively implemented by the First Line;
Ensure effective mechanisms are in place to assign Risk authorities in the Function to suitable named individuals in line with their skills and judgment;
Work with senior management to ensure an open and cooperative relationship is maintained in dealings with regulators;

Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Uphold and reinforce the independence of the TRM function from those whose responsibility is to maximise short-term revenues and profits
Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications: Bachelor or above in a numerate, quantitative discipline (e.g. science, engineering, economics, finance etc)
Market knowledge: experience at intermediate level in the banking industry, including demonstrated success in a similar role.
Business strategy and model: sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural sensitivity.
Risk management and control: demonstrated track record in successful management and ability to manage risk in geographically dispersed and highly varied product base. Expertise in process design and control.
Regulatory framework and requirement: awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates.
Excellent analytical skills and sound judgement in a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to present complex risk issues to senior and non-technical stakeholders.
Other non-technical skills: self-starter and proactive, effective verbal and written communication, demonstratable problem solving skills, and good internal stakeholder management experience.
Systems Knowledge: Good understanding of risk and pricing systems.
Other training as deemed mandatory by the bank and updated on a periodic basis.
