Role OverviewYou’re not just working in an office—you’re powering schools. As Treasurer, you will support and strengthen our schools by building systems, strategies, and partnerships that drive student success at scale. You will be responsible for managing our school’s funds, bank accounts, budgets, and financial records, in addition to overseeing cash flow, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulations, and advising leadership on fiscal policies to ensure long-term financial sustainability.Your work will directly impact students by enabling schools and leaders to perform at their highest level.—What You’ll DoCore ResponsibilitiesFinancial Oversight & Management: Managing day-to-day financial operations, including cash management, paying bills, depositing funds, and handling payroll.Budgeting & Reporting: Preparing the annual budget, creating financial forecasts, and delivering regular, detailed financial reports to the Board of Directors using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Asset Management & Investment: Investing funds according to organization policies and overseeing financial assets.Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintaining accurate, permanent records of all financial transactions.Auditing & Tax: Coordinating annual audits, addressing audit findings, and handling regulatory filings, such as Form 990.Strategic Planning: Advising leadership on the financial implications of strategic decisions, including risk management and fundraising efforts.Forecasting & Student Trends: Reporting monthly rolling cash flow forecasts, comprehensive five-year projections, and budget-to-actual comparisons.In this role, you will:Lead and execute key initiatives in financeDevelop and improve systems, processes, and organizational strategiesUse data to inform decisions and measure impactPartner with school leaders to support performance and outcomesManage projects from planning through executionEnsure compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulationsCommunicate clearly with stakeholders across multiple levelsIdentify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvementManage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentPerform additional responsibilities as needed—Leadership & Ownership (If Applicable)Manage and develop team membersSet goals and track progress against key performance indicatorsDrive cross-functional collaboration and alignmentOwn outcomes and deliver measurable results—Who You AreYou are a strategic, results-driven professional who is deeply committed to educational equity and organizational excellence.You demonstrate:Mission Alignment: Passion for improving student outcomes at scaleStrategic Thinking: You connect big-picture goals to daily workData-Driven Decision Making: You use metrics to guide actionsOwnership: You take accountability for resultsExecution: You turn plans into high-quality outcomesCollaboration: You influence and align stakeholdersAdaptability: You thrive in a dynamic, growing organization—Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or economics5+ years of relevant professional experienceStrong project management and organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to analyze and interpret dataAbility to manage confidential and sensitive informationAbility to pass required background checksEnsure compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and regulationsMaintain accurate documentation, reporting, and audit readinessMonitor regulatory changes and adjust practices accordingly—About UsHamilton County Mathematics & Science Academy (HCMSA) is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades Pre K–8 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
