GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Senior Administrative Aide working in the Disability Department requires an individual who is capable of handling a high volume of documents in a fast-paced environment. Must be a quick learner and up to date with computer knowledge/skills as the department is in the process of transitioning to an electronic document management system. In addition, will provide general clerical administrative assistance with the disability application process; and to do any other work as required and directed.
To professionally, courteously and respectfully treat all contacts with customers of the General Treasurer’s Office including the public, other government agencies, the business community, fellow employees and any other customers, both in person and when answering incoming calls, emails, letters and any other form of contact, and to project a customer-friendly attitude committed to provide high quality customer service.
STATEMENT OF FLEXIBILITY: During times of increased departmental workloads, employees of the General Treasurer’s Office may be required to perform duties as directed to support operations. Such duties include but are not limited to working on a temporary basis (not to exceed three (3) months, which may be extended by mutual agreement) in the Crime Victim Compensation Program, General Administration, Business Processing, Employees’ Retirement, Unclaimed Property and/or the Investment Division. Designated managers within each division will review work for conformance to established procedures and regulations. Employees will not be disciplined for their inability to meet job requirements, which are specific to a position to which they are temporarily transferred. Experience, including working in other departments, may be considered as a factor in selecting employees for promotions and/or transfers to new positions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives direction and works under the general supervision of Disability Pension Manager and/or ERSRI’s Legal Counsel, who reviews work results for conformance to established procedures, regulations and controls.

.To review disability applications received by the Employees’ Retirement System for compliance with Rhode Island General Laws and to take appropriate action including but not limited to meeting with the applicant, contacting their employer and physician(s), on the disability application as necessary;
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, CAPACITIES: Must possess excellent organizational and clerical skills; must be able to independently manage time and adhere to the departments monthly schedule of required tasks. Must have the ability to follow directions but also be able to work independently without supervision. Must have demonstrated skills and knowledge of computer systems including electronic document management and Adobe Acrobat X Pro or other similar imaging software; must possess familiarity with the laws and regulations governing the disability process for ERSRI or have demonstrated ability to learn laws and regulations and apply them to daily tasks. Must be an effective communicator both written and oral.
Experience working with Microsoft Office and any other software utilized for scheduling or communication relative to applicants. Word skills must include letter creation, editing, and mail merge. Familiarity with electronic document management and Adobe Acrobat X Pro or other similar imaging software. Basic to intermediate Excel skills are preferred. Familiarity with customer relationship management software is preferred but not required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Such as may have been gained through possession of an Associate’s degree in a related program.
Experience such as may have been gained through employment in a similar capacity requiring attention to detail, collection and analysis of documents, adherence to laws and regulations and applying laws, rules and regulations to daily tasks within a fast-paced governmental or private organization.
Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
