Staff Treasury Insurance Specialist

Bourns, Inc., a leading global supplier of reliable, high quality electronic components and solutions for over seventy-five years, seeks a Staff Treasury Insurance Specialist.

In this role you will assist in the maintenance of banking relations and credit, management of bank accounts, and support efforts to minimize the effects of foreign exchange on financial statements and help manage the global insurance program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of Treasury/Insurance in the maintenance of a positive relationship with the Companys banks and financial institutions.
  • Monitor the Companys activities and performance to ensure compliance with the debt covenants of the Companys credit facility.
  • Assist in the management of cash forecasting, including planning and budgeting. Liaise and coordinate with various entities, functions and/or departments to obtain information to prepare liquidity forecasts including payments, collections, intercompany funding, taxes, and capital investments.
  • Gather the required documentation and signatures to open/close/modify terms of bank accounts controlled by Bourns, Inc. or any subsidiary throughout the world.
  • Manage the Companys commercial purchase card program.
  • Support the tracking and management of foreign exchange exposures.
  • Review the accounting of transactions influenced by foreign exchange to ensure compliance with ASC 830.
  • Assist in the management of foreign exchange exposures, aid in the development of policies to minimize the effects of foreign exchange on the Companys operating results. Recommend to the CFO and Treasury Insurance Director derivatives which can be used to achieve this goal.
  • Provide insightful analysis to support our liquidity and working capital strategies and interact with financial and operational leaders on cash forecasting assumptions.
  • Assist the Director with the Companys investment strategies to meet operational needs and ensure the various policies and strategies comply with the investment accounting principles and disclosures including those in FAS 115 and 157.
  • Lead or participate in various initiatives to improve the efficiency of Company expenditures. Lead the effort to develop and implement interfaces for SAP accounts payable with various banks to automate payments to the greatest degree while continuing to maintain adequate internal control over expenditures. Monitor the use of installed systems.
  • Support the tracking of cash and investments within the Company utilizing various electronic tools (bank web sites, SAP, etc.).
  • Play a significant role in the renewal process of insurance policies to include gathering, summarizing and providing information to the broker for the renewal of global insurance policies.
  • Play a significant role in analyzing insurance coverage versus the exposed risk throughout the Company.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with financial planning and reporting, tax, commercial finance, business operations, external and internal financial reporting, and accounting.
  • Perform other various assigned activities for finance, accounting and financial reporting.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Bachelors of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accountancy, Business, Finance, or equivalent. MBA, CPA, CTP, CMA, etc. a plus.
  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience with Corporate Treasury, FP&A, and/or Accounting along with three (3) to five (5) years of financial modeling and analysis experience.
  • Familiarity with evaluating economic market data and different types of banking products and services including cash management, financial instruments, market rates and banking policy, working capital programs (supply chain and receivables factoring programs), and debt and equity instruments.
  • Banking (credit and counterparty risk exposures) and capital markets experience is a plus.
  • Education or experience in Corporate Organization law (Corporate formation, types of legal entities, formation documentation requirements, etc.).
  • Education or experience in Insurance policies and law.
  • Familiarity with risk management and insurance principles and practices as they apply to business.
