OverviewThe Village of Red Hook is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Treasurer to oversee financial operations. The Village Treasurer is the chief fiscal officer of the Village, charged with the responsibility of maintaining custody of all Village funds and accounting for all Village receipts and disbursements.ResponsibilitiesReceive and review all invoices for the Village. Resolve any issues, coordinate board approval, and ensure payment.Ensure the entry of transactions into QuickBooks including tax receipts, utility payments, invoices, deposits, and transfers. Monitor Village finances and transfer funds between accounts when required.Prepare Treasurer’s Reports for the Board, attend monthly board meeting to deliver Financial Report. Provide fiscal information to Board of Trustee members as needed.Oversee Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP) & workers’ compensation for the Red Hook Fire Company including billing Town of Red Hook for their share of costs.Receive all monetary receipts and prepare bank deposits.Coordinate year-end closing of all funds and provide information as needed for the Comptroller to prepare and submit the Annual Financial Report (AFR) to the NYS Office of the State Controller (OSC) in a timely manner.Work with the Mayor to prepare the annual budget, budget entry into QuickBooks, and budget control and compliance throughout the year. Work with the Mayor and Comptroller to finalize annual budget and tax rate. Report to NYS OSC as required.Monitor Treasurer’s email, manage correspondence, and phone messages.Special projects – manage the financial aspects of capital projects, bond payments. Also oversee special funds including escrow and Village Green accounts.Interface with the Comptroller on a weekly basis to resolve any fiscal concerns.
