Treasury and Risk Analyst I

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager of Treasury Services, Risk Manager, and / or the Senior Manager Treasury and Risk Management, performs a variety of activities in support of Cooperative Energy’s Treasury and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Programs. Responsible for providing day-to-day transactional and analytical support to accomplish routine and ad-hoc treasury and risk management tasks and activities. Duties and responsibilities within the overall Treasury and Risk Management functional areas to be assigned and directed based upon the routine and changing needs of the organization.

Essential Job Functions:

• With consistent guidance and supervision, perform Finance department tasks as may be assigned, including debt and investment analytics, risk management and cash management related functions, and special projects assigned by Management.
• Assist and contribute to various treasury functions including, but not limited to, the administration of cash management, short-term liquidity, long-term debt capital, and investment activities.
• Provide assistance, as requested, with the preparation of departmental forecasts and budgets.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of reports concerning various aspects of financial and risk management, including cash, investment and debt positions, and counterparty credit exposure.
• With direct supervision, assist in the creation of new loan and existing loan advance applications and requests in close coordination with other departmental resources.
• With consistent supervision, monitor daily cash position and support departmental staff with cash management activities and transactions.
• With minimal supervision, process interest, principal and lease payments as assigned.
• With minimal supervision, maintain records related to loan contracts including interest accruals and amortization schedules and prepare appropriate journal entries and payment vouchers.
• Provide support to the management of the Emergency Notification System (ENS) including reports of ENS testing results and research of failed test responses.
• Assist in conducting the department’s risk surveys and risk assessments.
• Assist in updating the risk register and the preparation of related analytical reports.
• Assists in monitoring counterparty credit limits and exposure levels and updates models and reports related to counterparty credit risk exposure and performance.
• Accomplish specific tasks related to the preparation of support materials (reports, charts, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and other exhibits) to be used in meetings with the Cooperative’s Board of Directors, the Senior Management Team, the Ratings Agencies, the Banking and Insurance Industry, and/or other audiences as directed and assigned.
• Assist in maintaining various key financial metric databases and financial models for use by the Department.
• Perform periodic reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as assigned.
• Attendance at internal stakeholder and external stakeholder meetings as directed and assigned.
• Participation in educational conferences and seminars as directed and assigned.
• Travels to company sites for risk management activities and to financial institutions for treasury activities.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree Economics Or
• Bachelor’s Degree Accounting Or
• Bachelor’s Degree Finance Or
• Bachelor’s Degree Banking Or
• Bachelor’s Degree Risk Management Or
• Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration

Experience Requirements:

• No Experience Required
  • Accounting, Finance, Banking or Risk Management Experience Preferred
  • Treasury and Cash Management Experience Preferred
  • Enterprise Risk Management Experience Preferred
  • Utility Experience Preferred
  • Electric Cooperative Experience Preferred

Certifications and Licensures:

• Successfully pass a security sensitive background screening. Required
• Valid Driver’s License Required
