Due to an internal promotion Broster Buchanan are supporting, arguably one of the most impressive organisations in the Cambridgeshire area, to recruit a talented Treasury and Risk Manager. You’ll head up all aspects of financial risk management and the financial security of the business whilst maintaining a strong financial control environment. The Treasury and Risk Manager will be a key business partner to the Managing Director, Finance and Commercial Directors.
Your core accountabilities
Responsible for the documentation, ongoing management and execution of hedging strategies in line with the agreed risk management framework.
Responsible for maintaining the companies policy documents in relation to foreign currency, commodity risk management and hedging strategies and making sure these are in line with the Financial Controls Framework
Completion of annual Commodity and FX Exposure Reporting
Period end reporting and analysis of derivative positions involving (i) accurate technical hedge accounting in line with IFRS; (ii) ensuring accounting treatment reflects the underlying business fundamentals (iii) providing variance commentary to management and at group level
Completion of FX forecasting for budgets and reforecasts and calculation of the effective foreign exchange rate.
Periodic reporting to the Commercial Steering Group (CSG) (comprising MD, FD and CD) on euro and USD exposure and hedge position, including proposals for future hedges
Proactively monitors news feeds and updates from banks on USD and EUR versus sterling to ensure quality decisions are made to maximise profits.
Constant review of other currency pairs (non-sales related) to assess whether these cash flows require hedging (e.g. capital)
Critical Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
Treasury best-practice and ideally FRS9
Strong business partner
Strong IT skills – particularly MS Excel.
Good communication skills including sharing financial data with non-financial teams.
