Residential Construction / Home Builder Career Opportunity
We’re partnering with a privately held, multi-market production homebuilder seeking a Vice President of Finance & Treasury to join its corporate team in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This is a hands-on senior finance leadership opportunity working directly with the owner and CEO and playing a key role in the company’s banking, treasury, liquidity, financial planning, and capital management functions.
The company has an established accounting and controllership team in place, so this is not a traditional Controller position. The Vice President of Finance & Treasury will focus heavily on cash flow forecasting, construction and development financing, borrowing bases, lender reporting, credit facilities, and banking relationships, while also providing financial oversight and analysis across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced homebuilding finance leader who wants broader responsibility and direct exposure to company ownership. The organization is entrepreneurial, highly collaborative, and intentionally lean, giving this individual the opportunity to remain close to the business while having a meaningful impact on financial strategy and future growth.
Vice President of Finance & Treasury Responsibilities
Manage relationships with the company’s banks, construction lenders, and other financial partners.
Manage construction, land development, and other loan draws across the company’s operations.
Prepare and manage short- and long-term cash flow forecasts for land acquisition, development, home construction, closings, and operating activities.
Manage borrowing bases, lender reporting, covenant compliance, and other loan requirements.
Maximize borrowing availability while maintaining appropriate company liquidity.
Coordinate financing for homes, finished lots, land development, acquisitions, and other company investments.
Analyze company and community-level capital requirements and provide leadership with visibility into future cash needs.
Work directly with the CEO on existing banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing decisions.
Progressively assume responsibility for the company’s day-to-day banking and treasury activities.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and other financial planning activities.
Review monthly financial statements, operating results, and financial reporting prepared by the accounting team.
Provide financial analysis supporting land acquisitions, community investments, and other major capital decisions.
Partner with operational leadership to improve financial visibility, reporting processes, controls, and cash management.
Provide leadership and development to the Controller and accounting team while maintaining a hands-on approach to the company’s financial operations.
Vice President of Finance & Treasury Qualifications
We are looking for a smart, energetic, and highly involved finance professional who understands the mechanics of financing a production homebuilding business. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial and analytical capabilities with the ability to work directly with company ownership, operating leaders, and banking partners.
7-15+ years of progressive finance, treasury, banking, or related experience.
Production homebuilding, residential development, construction, or real estate finance experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of construction and development draws, borrowing bases, cash flow forecasting, lender reporting, and credit facilities.
Experience managing banking relationships and communicating directly with lenders and senior financial partners.
Strong financial statement, accounting, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.
Ability to operate effectively in a lean, entrepreneurial organization and remain closely involved in the details of the business.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and follow-through skills.
Experience supporting land acquisitions, community investments, and capital allocation decisions is preferred.
Current homebuilding finance leaders as well as experienced commercial bankers or homebuilder lenders with strong financial and accounting knowledge will be considered.
CPA or MBA is desirable but not required. Practical experience in homebuilding finance and banking matters more.
Candidates must be based in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
This opportunity may be particularly attractive to a Director or senior finance leader ready to step into a broader Vice President role with direct access to ownership. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take meaningful responsibility for the company’s banking, treasury, liquidity, and financial oversight, while supporting continued growth across multiple markets.
