Global Treasury, a segment of the American Express Finance group, is responsible for providing a balance sheet that provides a competitive advantage for the company. This includes managing capital to support our business; delivering cost-effective, diverse and resilient funding; and identifying, measuring and addressing financial and operational risks.
The Vice President of Global Treasury Operations (GTO) – EMEA leads a 20+ person team responsible for managing critical regional daily Cash management processes for supported European markets and legal entities; these processes ensure all regional payable obligations e.g. Merchant, Vendor, Colleague salaries are met on a timely basis with high operational excellence. This role and the team also are responsible for the complex American Express Global FX management processes providing P&L protection against Foreign Exchange rate volatility related to Balance Sheet, Equity and Future income streams.
As a senior Treasury leader in the region, this role also provides guidance to adjacent Treasury teams within the region, ensures our interconnected FX activities in support of our Network transaction clearing & settlement activities are compliant with Cardmember and Merchant T&Cs, and leads complex initiatives in support of Business Unit goals. Additional responsibilities including driving Regulatory, Control & Compliance or CPI Initiatives to provide value across the organization and representing AXP in engagement with local Bank partners, Regulatory and Legal discussions.
This position is important to fulfilling Global Treasury Operations mission of ensuring that American Express has the right amount of money, at the right time and place, and in the right currency to fulfill its financial commitments. This role ensures all cash management transactions, including intracompany & intercompany financings, payables/receivables, debt instruments, and M&A activities are executed in a highly controlled manner adhering to all applicable American Express policies and control standards.
This person will partner broadly across the Treasury organization to ensure the EMEA team is represented in applicable funding, liquidity, investments, capital planning, and legal entity management topics.
