The Vice President, Business Development, Treasury and Investments, will report to the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Direct reports are the Director of Business Development and Alliance Management, the Director of Treasury Operations, and the Director of Investments. The VP will develop strategic relationships in the banking, investment banking, investment management, insurance, mergers and acquisitions, and general business sectors. Building organizational talent will be a responsibility of the candidate through effective coaching of direct and indirect staff. Driving strategic direction and continuing to refine business acumen through technical and professional knowledge and skill sets will be the responsibility of the candidate. Effectively communicating tactical and strategic vision and outcomes to all levels of the organization will be critical to the success of this position. The Vice President is responsible for over $5 billion in annual cash flows and over $2 billion in investment assets, effective management of all external asset managers, oversight of investment performance and strategic vision, reporting responsibility to all corporate boards, investment committees, and audit committees. Critical to the success of this position will be participation in many external associations, boards, peer networking groups, Blue Cross Association committees, and leadership / influence roles in many indirect support businesses (i.e BCS Insurance Company). The candidate manages an annual budget of $3 – 5 million dollars. The Vice President will have a demonstrated dedication to diversity by acting in a leadership role to meet the goals and objectives of diversity in the BCBSM workplace. Key relationships will be with members of senior and executive staff, members of the Board of Directors, management from across the entire organization and like-organizations. Key external relationships will be with leaders in the financial sector (banks, brokers, investment banks, MandA firms) as well as financial leadership positions in the national Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and other Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans and the Finance Committees
